The Colombian Life Defenders Community (COLDC) was formed in response to the killings and violent acts towards Human Rights Defenders, Social Leaders, alongside those defending land, environmental, and indigenous peoples’ rights. We believe in the power of community, and the power that young people have to make a change.
We are bringing people together from around the world (from existing organisations and educating the global public) to support those who are able to vote in the next election have a voice, to know they are supported globally, and to raise awareness of issues we know they care about, using existing information but displaying it in a more digestible way.
By creating a global artistic demonstration, and raising awareness on social media platforms, and in ‘old fashioned media’ we will target 16-24 year olds and encourage them to use their vote to help make a difference - we are lighting the spark to create an inferno of change & inspire a generation.
Change is possible when ideas are set in motion not in stone.
We know that the Colombian History is complex and hidden, however, knowledge is power and that power is within us. We gather the updated information from a range of sources so you can find it in a single location.
Knowledge is the first step to make a change, therefore we rise awareness about the issues in a way that everyone can understand. So that the world is informed and can begin to take action.
Working together is more efficient (and more fun) than working alone, so we aim to bring people that care about the issue together to form the Colombian Life Defenders Community to develop solutions to the problem.
This is the place to document and share the stories of human rights defenders and social activists whose voices have been silenced. News , stories, events , Up-to-date information, and historical context resources to develop a community of people and organizations who are passionate about human rights.
We share information and connect with others trying to raise awareness for the cause. Our content aims to explain in a more digestible way the most updated information about this topic.
